You said I'm funny

But when did I make you laugh?

You said I'm silly

But when did you giggle with me and not at me?

I showed you authentic expression

You shook your head

Then when the roles were switched

Did you appreciate my blasé tongue?

Only you could be serious

Right?

Only you could be serious

When you decided I had done something wrong

How can I ever approach seriousness again

without the expectation of being met with a shrug and a chuckle?

I have no problem being lighthearted and carefree

But it somehow feels like you drained that from me

There is no feeling quite like expressing boundless infatuation

And being met with "oh stop, silly goose."

Never again will I accept the role of being some kind of

imbecilic
