Leaving me breathless and confused...

and somehow also intrigued

A thankless effort with no return

I saw this as love

This attachment was a one-way street,

A dead end

with nowhere to turn around

Those memories flood my brain on a regular

day - to - day

But TODAY, today I took another look back

to the days I was soul deep in my love of you

and for the first time, felt pity on past me

Unhealthy attachment that you facilitated

that you...allowed

Intrigue, excitement, comfort, safety, "love"

turned to loss, sacrifice, self-doubt, emptiness

and finally turning to power, strength, CLARITY
